At A&A The Shop we know the importance of maintaining your warranty, and maintaining your vehicle. It ensures your oil is clean and doing its job, which is keeping the motor running. It also ensures the oil filter has the capacity to remove as much as dirt and grime from the engine as possible.

Oil is the lifeblood of the motor. It keeps things moving, stops metal grinding, removes impurities from the internals, keeps it cool, and ensures all moving parts are lubricated.

We strongly recommend letting us change the oil regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you don't know what the suggested interval is, don't worry, we can tell you. We can even tell you what kind of oil it needs too.

There are three kinds of motor oil for road cars. They are mineral, synthetic and semi-synthetic. All will work with most engine types, but are eminently suitable for certain engines and environments. We will be happy to advise you on the best option for your vehicle.

Mineral oil is a direct descendent of the crude oil we drill from the earth. It's taken from underground, refined, and then has additives mixed with it to improve its performance. It's thick, slick, and ideal for most engines and most situations.

Synthetic is a little further along the evolutionary chain. It's derived from mineral oil, but it refined to a much higher degree. It then has a lot of man-made chemicals and additives mixed in to give it a much higher performance than mineral oil.

Semi-synthetic oil is a mixture of the two. It's one part mineral oil, refined to a high degree, and one part synthetic. It's the middle ground, less expensive than fully synthetic, and covers more applications.

The choice of oil comes down to the engine size, the type of driving you do, and the demands of the manufacturer. We have 25 years experience in the motor trade, and are only too happy to use that experience to benefit our customers.
